Addis Ababa, October 29, 2024 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the African Union, Barlybay Sadykov, held a meeting with the newly appointed Director-General for Middle East, Asia and Oceania Affairs at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Kassaw Negus, and the Director-General of the Department of International Organizations at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Semunegus Hailegiorgis.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ethiopia, with a particular focus on developing trade and economic relations. The importance of implementing the provisions of the Kazakhstan-Ethiopia Cooperation Roadmap for 2024-2025, adopted following political consultations at the deputy foreign minister level, was emphasised. This document outlines priority areas for bilateral political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and international cooperation.
Special attention was given to Kazakhstan’s international initiatives, including the establishment of an International Agency for Biological Safety and a UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
The interlocutors also discussed cooperation between inter-parliamentary friendship groups as an effective mechanism for strengthening collaboration between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Both sides expressed their commitment to support joint initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability, and security on the international stage and to actively cooperate at key international platforms.
