Kazakhstan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo Held the First Round of Political Consultations

Astana-Kinshasa, August 21, 2026 — The 1st round of political and diplomatic consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of International Cooperation, Francophonie, and Congolese Diaspora of the Democratic Republic of the Congo was held in an online format at the level of senior officials.

At the beginning of the event, the co-chairs introduced the participants. Following this, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia, Zh.Adilbayev, delivered a welcoming speech, noting that the modern cooperation agenda between Astana and Kinshasa is based on the agreements reached between the Heads of State of the two countries following the state visit of H.E. Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the DRC, to Astana in September 2025. Furthermore, he noted that the Kazakh side is interested in establishing mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation between the two countries.

The political consultations continued with speeches by the co-chairs and meeting participants. During the exchange of views, the parties discussed in detail priority areas of cooperation, including expanding the legal framework through the conclusion of relevant bilateral agreements, noted the importance of exchanging visits by representatives of official and business circles of the two countries, and agreed to coordinate their positions on interaction within international organizations, including the UN and other multilateral organizations and institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the results of the first meeting and agreed to continue the dialogue between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and the DRC.
