Historical, Cultural Heritage and International Initiatives of Kazakhstan Presented in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, May 26, 2026 - As part of promotion of its cultural image abroad, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ethiopia organized a cultural seminar. The event was dedicated to Kazakhstan's modern policy aimed at strengthening national unity, promoting national history, and preserving cultural values.

The cultural and image-building event was attended by representatives of Ethiopia, international organizations, leading Ethiopian experts, members of the Kazakhstan Friends Club, and media representatives.

During the seminar, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan and Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mr. Zh.Adilbayev, briefed the participants on the significant anniversary dates celebrated by Kazakhstan at the international level in 2026. He also emphasized the country's leading role in global religious and scientific diplomacy.

In his speech, the Kazakh diplomat placed special emphasis on the significance of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as the International Symposium on the Heritage of the Golden Horde. It was highlighted that hosting these large-scale events confirms Kazakhstan's role as a vital bridge between different cultures, civilizations, and historical eras.

Ambassador Zh.Adilbayev spoke in detail about the prominent figures of Kazakhstan's historical and cultural heritage whose anniversaries are being widely celebrated this year. The guests were presented with the life milestones of such titans of national history as Zhambyl Zhabayev (180 years), Alikhan Bokeikhanov (160 years), Akhmet Zhubanov (120 years), Shora Sarybayev (100 years), and Saiyn Muratbekov (90 years).

The historical continuity and dynamic modern development of progressive Kazakhstan were visually demonstrated to the participants through a specially prepared photo exhibition.

The main cultural highlight of the program was the official premiere in Ethiopia of the feature film «Kazhymukan», which tells the story of the life and triumphs of the legendary Kazakh wrestler, the first multiple world wrestling champion, Kazhymukan Munaitpasov. The film, which showcased the heroic spirit and sports culture of the Great Steppe, resonated deeply with the foreign audience and received high praise.

Overall, the seminar participants showed a keen interest in Kazakhstan's cultural diplomacy, Astana's peacekeeping initiatives, and the country's historical heritage, expressing solidarity with the ongoing policy of national unity and systemic transformations.
