Astana is once again set to become the epicenter of the global esports scene as it prepares to host the international PGL Astana 2026 tournament. According to the official website of the capital's Akimat, this Counter-Strike 2 competition will bring together 16 of the world's top-tier teams, turning the city into an arena watched by millions of spectators worldwide.

The tournament will take place from May 15 to 17 at the Barys Arena, featuring 16 world-class organizations.

The 2025 edition of the tournament was a resounding success, achieving record-breaking online viewership and significant interest from the international community. Consequently, Astana has solidified its status as a rising hub for global esports, making the 2026 event a logical continuation of this achievement.

The event is organized by PGL Esports SRL, one of the world's leading operators of premier esports competitions.

In 2026, the prize pool has been increased to $1.6 million, making it one of the highest-paying Counter-Strike 2 tournaments outside of the Major series.
