Signing an agreement on the «Baiterek» project

On October 31, 2020, a working meeting was held in Moscow between the Minister of digital development, innovation and aerospace industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Musin and the General Director of the state Corporation for space activities Roscosmos D. Rogozin.

The parties discussed topical issues of Kazakh-Russian cooperation in the space sphere, including the further development of the Baikonur complex. Issues related to the Baiterek (Nazarbayev start) and Gagarin start projects were discussed.

During the meeting, a Protocol was signed on amendments and additions to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur cosmodrome on December 22, 2004.

As part of the procedure, a contract was also signed for the provision of services for the creation of the Baiterek KRK, which in turn was signed by Andrey Okhlopkov, General Director of TsENKI JSC, and Kuat Mustafinov, General Director of the Kazakh-Russian joint venture Baiterek JSC.

Reference: Baiterek is a complex designed for launching spacecraft by the Russian Soyuz-5 launch vehicle and its possible modifications, with a high level of environmental safety. In this project, the Russian side provides for the creation of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, control and verification equipment at the technical and launch complexes, as well as the modernization of the technical complex of the upper stage, the spacecraft and the space head. The Kazakh side is carrying out reconstruction and modernization of ground infrastructure facilities of the Zenit-M space rocket complex.
