The peak of floods has been passed in Kostanay region

All necessary flood control measures are being carried out by government agencies in the region.
161 private houses in Kostanay, Karasu districts and Kostanay city remain flooded.
The Karatomarskoye, Verne-Tobolsk, and Zhelkuarskoye reservoirs are under control. To date, the discharge of water from the Karamtomar reservoir has decreased to 2,200 m3/s, and there is also a decrease in inflow to 1,950 m3/s.
Due to the continuing threat of flooding, settlements along the Tobol and Tyuntyugur rivers (Kostanay, Kostanay, Mendykarinsky districts) remain in the area of attention.
2 access roads to the regional center are still closed, traffic is carried out through the Central Bridge. On the night of April 9, the overflow pipe, which was installed during the peak of the flood, was already dismantled there. Traffic on closed sections of bridges will be restored after the water level in the Tobol River decreases.
Also, traffic has already been restored on 9 roads, work continues on the rest. In total, traffic was restricted on 24 highways during the floods.
During the flood period, about 795,068 thousand m3 of water was pumped out. More than 86,754 thousand bags were packed. Filled with inert materials: 7,351 tons.
9,097 people were rescued and evacuated. There are 759 people in temporary accommodation facilities.
Work on pumping out melt water, laying sacks continues in 7 regions: Fedorovsky, Karasu, Kostanay, Auliekolsky, Sarykolsky and Naurzumsky districts, Kostanay.
Work has already begun in the region to provide assistance to all flood victims. One-time social payments have been organized, as well as sponsorship and humanitarian assistance.
The city and district akimats have organized the reception of applications for compensation for material damage caused to victims as a result of a natural emergency. Commissions are working to assess the amount of damage caused to property.
As of April 8, social assistance was paid to 587 families in the amount of 107.3 million tenge.
Volunteers and concerned citizens provide significant assistance, working almost around the clock in flood prevention activities. Akim of Kostanay region K.Aksakalov expressed sincere gratitude to all concerned citizens who joined government agencies in the fight against the natural disaster.
Flood monitoring is ongoing. The situation is under control.
