Mikhail Karachev was born in 1908 in the village of Umetgurt in the Udmurt ASSR. He was drafted into the Soviet Army in 1941.
On June 26, 1944, during the crossing of the Western Dvina river, Karachev established contact with the division and called for the fire of his mortars. With its help, the 212th guards mortar division shot down and destroyed dozens of tanks, self-propelled guns, cannons, and machine guns.
March 24, 1945 By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, M. V. Karachev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
From September 1945 to March 1958, he lived and worked in the Kostanay region.
The tombstone and obelisk are made of sheet steel.
