but worship your mother tongue», - said the famous Kazakh poet, people's writer of Kazakhstan, Kadyr Myrza Ali.
On September 22nd 1989, Kazakhstan adopted the law "On Languages", establishing Kazakh as the state language of the Kazakh SSR and Russian as the international language.
The Decree of the President of the Republic of January 20, 1998 approved Day of Languages of the Peoples of Kazakhstan in the country in order to foster love and respect for the native language and their country and expand knowledge about languages, traditions of different nationalities,
Initially, it was celebrated on the third Sunday of September, and then the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 31, 2017 No. 689 "On approval of the list of holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" decided to observe the celebration on September, 5 – on the birthday of Kazakh educator and scientist Akhmet Baitursynov.
The coincidence of this memorial date with birthday of the outstanding poet, translator, literary critic, public figure Akhmet Baitursynov is the top respect for his personality. A. Baitursynov has spent his whole life fighting for struggle for destiny and language of his native people, wrote and endowed his descendants with the Kazakh alphabet, graphics, structure and spelling.
Baitursynov was shot as an "enemy of the people" on December 8, 1937. The scientist was rehabilitated only in 1988.
This day has a special significance for our multinational country. One of them is the integrity of the republic, where 124 nations and nationalities live in peace and harmony, development and promotion of the Kazakh language, the respectful attitude to the state language, culture and traditions of the Kazakh and other peoples in the younger generation.
There are national cultural centers and theaters in the country receiving financial support from the state budget.
For example, there are more than 19 ethno-cultural associations of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in East - Kazakhstan region (2 branches, 17 local ones), there are associations of Ukrainians, Greeks, Armenians, Belarusians, Koreans, Kurds, Moldovans. Their task is not only to preserve the cultural heritage of their people, but also to share its richness and peculiarities with other ethnic groups. The activities of national communities are also supported.
In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the Friendship House operates as well as in all other cities. According to Ust-Kamenogorsk activists, the organizations under its shanyrak have long been an integral part of the public life of the city. The Friendship House gave all ethnic groups something in common and reflects the beauty of merge of a variety of cultures.
This allows representatives of various ethnic groups to preserve and develop their cultural expressions. Of course, in one day is impossible to show the achievements of dozens of peoples living on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in this area. Therefore, weeks, decades, months, language festivals, concerts of artists, contests for language skills, round tables, scientific conferences are held in all regions.
An important aspect of this holiday is the recognition of trinity of languages, in which English plays the role of the language of international communication. This reflects aspiration of Kazakhstan to integration into the world community and strengthening relations with other nations.
Language is the well–being of the people, it makes for the cohesion and unifying of nations. Language is a mean of education and a support linking the relationship of people. Day of Languages is a sign of friendship, kinship and unity of all citizens of Kazakhstan, and friendship of peoples, understanding and cooperation is the main pillar of nation-building.
