An innovative industrial hub is planned to be created in the Karaganda region

A metallurgical cluster will be developed in the Karaganda region. The agreement was signed by the regional akimat and the Qarmet company. This will help the development of local producers. And in general, it will have an impact on economic diversification. New jobs will be created. And to support innovative projects, it is planned to create a scientific hub on the basis of a technical university.

Akim of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed to submit a plan for the development of the metallurgical cluster in the near future. He also noted the need to expand small industrial zones and look for new ways to support entrepreneurship.

– As part of stimulating innovative development and the introduction of new technologies, the issue of creating a scientific hub on the basis of the A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University is being considered. It provides for the provision of infrastructure, services and programs to support innovative projects, create start–ups and develop technologies," Askar Gazaliyev, head of the Department of Industry and Industrial and Innovative Development, said at a staff meeting.

Irina Lyubarskaya, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, reported on the implementation of the Unified Comprehensive Entrepreneurship Support Program.

According to her, about 1,280 new business projects received state support last year. Such tools as subsidizing and guaranteeing projects are in demand. Manufacturing enterprises are actively using this technology.

Another effective tool is to bring the necessary engineering infrastructure at the expense of the state to business facilities. For example, water supply networks will be built in Temirtau for a coke production plant. In Sarani, with state support, a plant for the production of sanitary and hygienic products will be able to connect to gas.

– Funds have been allocated from the republican and regional budgets for the implementation of the program this year. We plan to finance about a thousand new projects and 1,690 projects based on our subsidy obligations. Since this year, a new support tool has been launched – it is subsidizing and guaranteeing domestic trade entities. Nine projects aimed at building and expanding modern trade formats have already been approved in January. Also, since this year, the Department of Entrepreneurship has been the administrator of the budget program for the provision of service support for business activities. It is being implemented through the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the region," Irina Lyubarskaya said.

It is noted that small and medium-sized businesses in the region are steadily growing. The number of subjects exceeded 101 thousand. About half of the economically active population of the region is employed in this area.

– The result of business support is to stimulate economic growth, create new jobs, attract investment and expand the tax base, – said Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.
