A schoolgirl from Karaganda took second place at the International Subject Olympiad

The Karaganda schoolgirl won a silver medal at the International Junior Olympiad in physics, biology and chemistry. In total, there are six awards in the treasury of Kazakhstanis – one silver and five bronze.

The International Junior Olympiad in Physics, Biology and Chemistry (IJSO) is an annual individual and team competition in natural sciences for students under the age of 16. This year's Olympiad was held from December 2 to 12 in Bogota (Colombia) with the participation of more than 60 countries. Each of them fielded a team consisting of six schoolchildren.

Participants completed tasks in three rounds: test, theoretical and experimental. Each offered assignments in three subjects.

– Kazakhstan juniors have adequately completed the calendar year of international subject Olympiads, once again confirming the quality of training. They broke the record of previous years. For example, last year at the IJSO, which was held in Dubai, the Kazakh national team brought three bronze medals to the piggy bank," says Anuar Unaibekov, director of the RNPC "Daryn".

The national team of Kazakhstan was represented by the winners and prize-winners of the republican Olympiads. Among them is Madina Imasheva, a student of the 10th grade of a specialized boarding school named after N. Nurmakov in Karaganda. The tenth grader won a silver medal. The head is physics teacher Yersin Adilbayev.

– Madina is a member of the regional Olympic team in physics. Getting into the national team of Kazakhstan is a great success for us. Madina already has a lot of achievements at Olympiads of different levels. But this is her first international competition, there are still many challenges ahead. Our goal is to take part in the IFO International Physics Olympiad. We have a lot of work in the theoretical and experimental part," said Yersin Adilbayev, a physics teacher at the N. Nurmakov School.
