The film was shot by Asau Art Films studio last year. This is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by the famous Kazakh writer Smagul Yelubai. The film tells a real story about the trials that befell the inhabitants of the Kazakh village in the 30s of the last century.

Director Begars Yelubai dedicated the film to the 100th anniversary of the Holodomor in Kazakhstan. Kairat Kemalov played the role of biya Pakhraddin.

– My first big movie role was the role of Kerey in the film "The Kazakh Khanate". The writer Smagul Yelubai, who created the script for this film, invited me to the main role in "Ak boz uy". This is a film about difficult years, about genocide and famine. Filming took place in Mangystau. Two months were filmed on the sand in 60-degree heat. It was difficult, but interesting. The award was a complete surprise for me," says Kairat Kemalov.
