Head of State got acquainted with the prospects for the development of Ulytau region

President was informed about the current situation and prospects for the development of Zhezkazgan city and Ulytau region. According to the governor of the region Berik Abdygali, there are a number of problems in the region that need to be solved. In particular, the deterioration of the environmental situation, the critical condition of roads of national importance, the weak diversification of the city's economy and dependence on large enterprises, the deterioration of engineering and communication infrastructure, problems in the social sphere.

Berik Abdygali believes that the creation of a special economic zone would accelerate the diversification of the region's economy. On behalf of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the construction of the Uytas-Aydos water pipeline will be completed in 2025. From 2023, the water supply from the Eskulin water intake to Zhezkazgan city will begin.

In order to solve the problem of dilapidated and dilapidated housing, which accounts for 33%, the city has launched a residential renovation program. In 2022-2023, it is planned to build 20 apartment buildings in a new area of the city.

Governor of the region informed President that in order to solve problems in the social sphere, it is important to build a state university, a center for additional education, new high-quality schools, sports and recreation complexes, as well as a philharmonic hall.

Head of State, having familiarized himself with the current situation in Zhezkazgan and the Ulytau region, supported the proposals made. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out that first of all it is necessary to improve the quality of life of the local population. He instructed the government and the akimat of the region to take appropriate measures to develop the road industry, ecology and education.

– The city should become promising in all respects. There is a lot of work to be done. I am sure that both the region and Zhezkazgan will become the most attractive regions of the country," the President said.

Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhmys Company LLP Eduard Ogai presented a report to the President on the prospects for the development of the enterprise and the region as a whole. According to him, the company is ready to make a feasible contribution to the development of the infrastructure of Zhezkazgan and Satpayev cities. Within the framework of corporate social responsibility, Kazakhmys will allocate 25.4 billion tenge this year. This is twice as much as last year.

– I would like to focus on such a problem. Of course, social issues need to be addressed. I will have a request to the Kazakhmys Corporation to take an active active part. Maybe 25.4 billion tenge in special conditions will not be enough. If there is an opportunity to increase the financing of construction. It is necessary to assist in the construction of social facilities. We need sports facilities. Residents express the hope that the infrastructure will be properly improved. Of course, cultural objects also require special attention," Head of State said.

In addition, the company will pay special attention to such areas as healthcare, education, and sports. For example, in 2023 it is planned to build a children's sports academy in Zhezkazgan, including the construction of a boarding school designed for 200 places.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev drew attention to the fact that when building sports facilities, preference should be given to multifunctional sports complexes. The company also plans to build housing that meets the new standards.
