
The Karaganda region accounts for about 6.5% of Kazakhstan's gross domestic product, which provides the region with the fourth largest economic contribution in the country. This result has been maintained over the past few years, confirming the stability of the region's economy and its systemic role in the country's economy.

Industry remains a key factor, ensuring sustainable growth and a high share in the country's economy. In 2025, industrial production reached 5 trillion tenge.
– By the end of 2025, the region is showing stable growth in all key areas. Industry remains the driver: industrial products worth 5 trillion tenge were produced, with an increase of 6%. This is the second place in the republic. The manufacturing industry is steadily developing – 3.8 trillion tenge, which confirms the course towards diversification and production of high–value-added products," said Dulat Ashkenov, Head of the Department of Economics and Budget Planning.

Mechanical engineering has also grown in the region.

The region retains leadership in ferrous metallurgy and the production of steel and flat rolled products, as well as holds leading positions in the production of refined copper and silver.

Steady growth in the mining industry. At the same time, coal production increased by 13.6%.
Economists point out that the high share in GDP is an indicator of the importance of the region for the whole country and an important signal for investors.
