Today, on the eve of the Day of Mass Media Workers, a meeting of the Minister of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva with the heads of the media was held in Almaty. Thus, the event was attended by the heads of the republican TV channels, leading print publications and the largest Internet resources.
The Minister congratulated on the upcoming professional holiday and noted that this year the Media Workers ' Day is held in the year of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence, which gives the date a special ideological significance.
"More and more journalism plays a social role – you carry out explanatory work in the social, religious, interethnic, legal spheres, increase the literacy of the population and draw more and more Kazakhstanis into the orbit of observing their own interests, preferences and assistance. Many of these benefits are guaranteed by the state, but some of them are unknown to the broad strata of society.
More and more journalists are working closely with volunteers, environmentalists, are members of public control groups, and are systematically engaged in mediation in various fields.
This automatically makes the state more democratic, forces state agencies to pay attention to negative trends and correct mistakes, work more efficiently and promptly," A. Balayeva said.
During the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place, issues of media transformation in the context of the development of information technologies and the prospects of domestic journalism were raised.
