Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of Kazakhstan and Pakistan held a meeting in Astana

Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held talks with the Auditor General of Pakistan Muhammad Ajmal Gondal. The meeting took place in Astana within the framework of the 28th ECOSAI Governing Board meeting.

The parties discussed new approaches in the field of public audit, issues of improving the professional level of auditors and sharing experience, the introduction of modern innovative technologies in the audit process and a number of other relevant topics.

Alikhan Smailov noted that the supreme audit institutions of Kazakhstan and Pakistan have long-term relations both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations such as INTOSAI, ASOSAI, ECOSAI and SCO.

Thus, within cooperation with the Office of the Auditor General of Pakistan, the specialists of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan were trained at the Academy of State Audit and Accounting in Lahore. Today, the interaction continues through seminars and online trainings.

"Through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization fruitful work is being carried out. Memorandum was signed between the supreme audit institutions of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan on conducting a parallel audit in the field of agriculture this year. Our auditors have already started this work," said the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“I am confident that interaction of our institutions will further strengthen for the benefit of our countries” – he emphasized.

Muhammad Ajmal Gondal also noted the significant progress of Kazakhstan in terms of expanding the types of state audit and the areas it covers.

He said that some new audit formats are also being introduced in Pakistan. For instance, an impact audit evaluates the effectiveness of the execution of decisions of the Government of a country after 2 years.

An audit of civic participation is being introduced, in which volunteers from among the country's residents are allowed to participate in audit activities. This helps to better immerse in the audited area and improve the audit quality as a whole.

"Today our countries are getting closer and closer. I believe that there should be an active exchange of experience in the field of auditing. I hope that we will continue to work on further strengthening of our cooperation," said the Auditor General of Pakistan.
