The Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan has become an official partner of the CASAI regional program aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and independence of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in Central Asian countries.
The partnership agreement for the CASAI project was signed in Dushanbe between the Supreme Audit Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) - an international professional organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of supreme audit institutions worldwide.
The program is scheduled to run through 2029.
Under the program, state auditors from Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Poland will provide methodological support, offer advice, and share professional expertise with their colleagues from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The signing ceremony was also attended by representatives of the SAI of China (ASOSAI Secretariat), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and others.
CASAI will focus on key areas such as improving audit quality and methodologies, developing strategic management, strengthening institutional independence, and digitizing audit processes.
As noted by the head of the Kazakh delegation – Tlegen Kaskin, Member of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the launch of such an ambitious program will have a significant impact on developing accountability and strengthening independence of Supreme Audit Institutions in the Central Asian region.
“In the context of increasing demands for the effectiveness of public administration, the role of Supreme Audit Institutions is significantly strengthening. In this regard, issues of audit quality, strategic management, digital transformation, and institutional resilience are becoming particularly relevant” – he said.
Tlegen Kaskin also expressed confidence that the participation of the Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan in the project would not only allow for the sharing of accumulated experience but also further strengthen professional cooperation in the region.
The first practical workshop was recently held in Dushanbe, where CASAI participants discussed the program’s concept and objectives, planned support mechanisms, agreed on further joint steps for 2026, and shared experiences on ensuring the independence of Supreme Audit Institutions.
Bilateral meetings with representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also took place on the sidelines of the event.
