Kazakhstan and the European Union intend to continue cooperation in the energy sector

Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogayev held a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan, Sven-Olov Karlsson, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of joint cooperation in the field of energy, including within the framework of the modernization of the Energy Charter treaty, as well as mechanisms for monitoring methane emissions during the production and transportation of hydrocarbon raw materials.

In addition, Sven-Olov Karlsson invited the Minister of Energy to participate in the upcoming Joint Conference "Republic of Kazakhstan – European Union" on climate issues.

Following the visit, the parties agreed to continue working to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector.

In Kazakhstan, a number of the largest European companies Eni, Shell, Total are involved in such large-scale oil and gas projects as the North Caspian Project, Karachaganak and Dunga.

About 80% of Kazakhstan's annual oil exports go to the EU countries.
