Nurlan Baybazarov, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy, held a meeting with with Evgeny Zhukov, General Director of the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Department for Central and West Asia, and Utsav Kumar, Director of ADB Representative Office in Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed priorities for further cooperation within the framework of Kazakhstan-ADB Country Partnership Strategy for 2023-2027, as well as topical issues on the regional agenda.
According to Nurlan Baybazarov, Kazakhstan is ready to further expand cooperation with ADB.
"Our country is interested in implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, green economy, transport and logistics, and water resources management. Experience and knowledge exchange program, which is attended by Kazakhstan experts, is also important for us", he noted.
Evgeny Zhukov stressed that the Asian Development Bank has been cooperating with Kazakhstan for 30 years as a key partner. The organization supports economic development of the country through investments, assistance in development of public-private partnerships and provision of expertise. One of the key and priority areas is support in combating effects of climate change and decarbonization.
Current status of ongoing project for construction of the Karagandy Multidisciplinary University Hospital was reviewed, and ADB's participation in reconstruction of the Kyzylorda–Zhezkazgan road was also discussed during the meeting.
Nurlan Baybazarov instructed government agencies to accelerate procedures for effective implementation of projects, and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to discuss ADB's participation in modernization of the country's water infrastructure.
