Kazakhstan's Trade with China

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China for January-August 2023 totalled USD 19.0bn, 22.6% higher than in the same period of the previous year (USD 15.5bn). 

It should be noted that this year the share of the PRC in the total trade turnover was 21%.

Exports from Kazakhstan to China for January-August 2023 increased by 2.1% to USD 9.0 billion.
The growth of exports to China is justified by the increase in supplies of such goods as: 

copper ores and concentrates - by 24.7% to USD 1.7 billion, 

uranium - by 56.9% to USD 553.1 million, 

wheat - 20.9 times growth to USD 110.2 million, 

barley - 4.1 times growth to USD 102.4 million, 

unprocessed zinc - 2.7 times growth to USD 116.7 million, 

gas - by 9.4% to USD 735.2 million.

At the same time, there was a decrease in exports of such commodities as: copper and copper cathodes by 24.3 per cent to USD 1.3 billion and crude oil by 9.3 per cent to USD 2.6 billion.
Imports to Kazakhstan from China for January-August 2023 compared to the same period last year increased by 49.5% to USD 10.0 billion.
The increase in imports from China is due to increased imports of goods such as: 

cars - 8.3 times growth to USD 549.9 million, 

footwear - 17.2 times growth to USD 191.0 million, 

car bodies - 4.6 times growth to USD 218.7 million, 

telephone sets - by 14.2% to USD 651.4 million.
