Kazakhstan's MNE and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank discussed prospects for co-operation

Alibek Kuantyrov, Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, and AIIB Manager for Kazakhstan, met with Ludger Schuknecht, Vice President of AIIB.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in energy, green economy, transport, and infrastructure, as well as agriculture.

The Minister spoke about Kazakhstan’s Strategy for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2060, adopted on February 2,  2023. The document affects key sectors of the economy and defines the main elements necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as measures to improve energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources.

In turn, Vice President of AIIB positively assessed the prospects of Kazakhstan in the development of infrastructure projects, financial market, and RES, and expressed readiness for cooperation.

"I propose AIIB to develop the Bank's Country Partnership Strategy for Kazakhstan for the medium term. This document will serve as a kind of roadmap for AIIB's activities in our country," concluded Alibek Kuantyrov at the meeting.
