In Paris, Alibek Kuantyrov met with Director of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Carmine Di Noya.
A. Kuantyrov spoke about measures to improve the investment climate in Kazakhstan, recalling that our country has been an "associate member" of the OECD Investment Committee since 2017.
The parties expressed confidence that close cooperation in this direction will give a new impetus to the development of partnerships, especially in terms of the investment attractiveness of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Kazakhstan is actively working on the phased introduction of OECD standards and attaches great importance to this. We plan to prepare an application for membership in the OECD in 2025. Joining the Organization is not an end in itself. The main thing is to raise the standard of living and well-being of citizens, improve the conditions for doing business and develop the country as a whole, applying the OECD standards,” A. Kuantyrov said.
The Minister noted that in the future Kazakhstan intends to join the OECD Guidelines on corporate governance of state-owned companies.
The head of the Ministry of National Economy also held talks with OECD Deputy Director for Public Administration Janos Bertok.
As the head of the MNE emphasized, Kazakhstan is committed to the OECD policy in order to develop the national economy.
“The Kazakh side is ready to further strengthen cooperation with the OECD. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted the Concept for the Development of Public Administration until 2030, work is underway to centralize auxiliary services of state bodies and decentralize the public administration system,” he said.
During the conversation, it was noted that the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to sign in 2023 the Agreement "Facilitating a dialogue between Kazakhstan and the OECD regarding Public Administration Reform: a proposal for integrated participation."
During the meeting with William Thompson, Head of the Eurasia Department of the OECD, the head of the MNE emphasized that the signing of the Protocol on amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OECD will allow Kazakhstan to introduce the best practices of the countries of the Organization and create the basis for preparing the Republic of Kazakhstan for entry into the OECD.
In addition, A. Kuantyrov held a meeting with the Executive Director of the French Development Agency (FAR) Philippe Aurilange.
The interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the FAR.
Recall that last year the MNE and the FAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, under which the parties intend to cooperate on financial and technical assistance in the development of such areas as energy, hydropower, development of energy-saving and energy-efficient technologies, water supply, sanitation, environmental protection environment, agriculture and irrigation.
