Kazakhstan presented its experience in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals at the ESCAP forum

On September 16–17, the Tenth North and Central Asia Multistakeholder Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), was held in Almaty.

Representatives of government agencies, international organizations, and the scientific and expert community participated in the forum. The Kazakh delegation was led by Vice Minister of National Economy Bekbolat Moldabekov.

Speaking at the forum, the Vice Minister noted that Kazakhstan continues to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into national strategies and programs. He specifically highlighted the role of digital transformation in ensuring inclusive growth and fostering innovation.

"In this context, we have initiated the creation of a Digital Solutions Center under the auspices of ESCAP," said Bekbolat Moldabekov.

One of the forum's topics was Kazakhstan's experience in implementing the SDGs. Gulzira Yerbolova, Head of the Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Department at the Ministry of National Economy, presented the country's approaches to preparing voluntary national reviews. Specifically, she discussed the preparation of the third review, which places particular emphasis on the "Listening State" principle and achieving global goals at the regional level.

Chief Expert Yerbol Zhumabay presented Kazakhstan's experience in achieving SDG 10 "Reduced Inequality."

Forum participants noted Kazakhstan's experience in preparing the Voluntary National Review, engaging with civil society, and setting sustainable development priorities, including measures to ensure gender equality.
