Updates on epidemiological situation on coronavirus in Kazakhstan on February 25, 2020

Kazakhstan continues to monitor citizens arriving from China and neighboring states.

Between January 6th and February 25th, 32,141 people crossed state border between Kazakhstan and China. 

Professionals from the Committee for Quality Control, Goods and Services Safety of the Ministry of Healthcare checked 32,141 people that crossed the state border with China on entry-points in international airports and railway stations between January 6 and February 25.

The Committee started to monitor 24,467 arrivals, among whom 23,977 were monitored, 24,329 were dismissed from monitoring. They still keep monitoring 138 people who had arrived within the last 14 days and 36 people who contacted with those hospitalized.

To date, 165 people with fever and flu symptoms have been hospitalized and isolated in separate boxes; 158 of them have been discharged, and 7 people remain in hospitals under medical supervision.

Also, on February 23, 2020 at 02:30 am a flight from Tokyo arrived to Nur Sultan with 20 citizens of Kazakhstan on board (including 4 passengers from the Japanese liner Diamond Princess) . All passengers were hospitalized for quarantine for medical and laboratory examinations. Their health condition is satisfactory.

Biological samples of all of the hospitalized travelers were sent to the National Science Center for Hazardous Infections in Almaty for additional check. Specialists in this center has mastered the technique for PCR-based diagnostics of the new coronavirus.

Kazakhstan has all the necessary drug and medical products for supportive therapy; prepared isolation boxes in infectious hospitals and medical workers of all level.

The situation is under constant control of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Healthcare reminds that in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we should all follow the preventive measures:

- Wash your hands and face with soap often and thoroughly;

- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers (antiseptics);

- Avoid public places;

- Avoid contact with sick people;

 - in case of symptoms of flu (increased body temperature, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat) it is necessary to consult with medical doctor, that serves your region of residence.
