Kazakhstan continues to work to prevent the spread of radical and destructive religious ideology in society.

In all regions of the country, 209 information and explanatory groups consisting of more than 2 thousand lecturers carry out their activities, which carry out explanatory work. The key areas of their activity are targeted information and explanatory work, rehabilitation of victims of destructive ideology and counter-propaganda of religious extremism.

So, for 11 months of this year 28 thousand multi-format events were organized on religious issues, including 7.9 thousand events among young people with coverage of 952 000 people. The work is carried out with an emphasis on risk groups: young people, the unemployed, self-employed citizens, convicts and their family members, etc.

A separate block of preventive measures concerns work in the Internet space. Thus, since the beginning of 2021, more than 181 thousand materials with propaganda of religious extremism and terrorism have been identified and deleted in the Internet space, 324 illegal materials have been blocked. Compared to last year, the number of deleted and blocked content has increased more than 8 times. It should be noted that blocking and deleting extremist materials is a forced, but not the main measure to prevent the radicalization of Kazakhstanis. The work is refocused on the prevention of religious extremism, the formation of immunity among the population to radical propaganda, increasing the level of media literacy and critical thinking of citizens so that they can independently protect themselves from the harmful influence of the ideology of extremism.

Special emphasis is placed on the development of preventive content in trending formats among young people. In particular, a comic for schoolchildren "MEIRMAN" has been prepared, explaining the danger of religious extremism.

In addition, in order to increase the religious literacy of citizens and counteract the ideology of destructive religious movements, more than 132 thousand multi-format publications have been posted in the media, Internet resources and social networks. It should be noted that in comparison with last year, publications on anti-extremist topics in the information space have increased almost 2 times.

The Ministry will continue organizing activities for counter-propaganda of radical ideology, as well as promoting secular principles and values of interfaith harmony.
