Greening of Almaty: 64 thousand seedlings were planted in the spring, 33 thousand young trees in autumn
Deputy Akim of Almaty Serik Kusainov spoke at a press conference of the Regional Communications Service about how residents of Almaty can manage the greening of the city.
Note, that in the spring of 2021, within the framework of the Jasyl Almaty program, over 64 thousand trees were planted due to compensation obligations, incl. landings were carried out in the courtyard territories with the involvement of residents.
The speaker noted, that back in October, the "Green City" campaign was launched in the megapolis to distribute seedlings to the residents of the city.
- Anyone can plant greenery in the courtyards of apartment buildings and other common areas. The Green Economy Office distributes hardwood seedlings for planting free of charge. This autumn, about 1,500 tree saplings were distributed, - S. Kusainov said.
According to the terms of the action, participants must sign a guarantee commitment to care for the planted trees for two years, indicate the planned planting site, the number of seedlings and their species composition. Distribution of seedlings is carried out through the regional akimats. After landing, you need to send a photo report.
As of November 15, 33 193 seedlings were planted, of which 22 931 trees and 10 262 shrubs.
The deputy akim of Almaty recalled the development of the Dendrological Plan until 2025. In the plans of local authorities to achieve the provision of green spaces for common areas of at least 10 sq. m per one inhabitant of the metropolis. Currently, this figure is about 7 square meters.
He emphasized that the range of trees planted in the city is selected together with the scientific community, landscape experts, depending on the climate and soil composition. Also, the goal of the akimat is to evenly provide each district of the city with greenery. New wells have been built in Almaty to irrigate green spaces, an inventory of irrigation canals has been carried out, and irrigation work has been strengthened.
At the same time, preventive work is being carried out to improve the health and treatment of trees by means of four-fold biological treatment against pests and fungal diseases.
